Boot Animation on Imagio - How Do You Update

Morning all,

I am trying to build a ROM with different boot animation but it seems I get the first two splash screens and then it goes to the lovely Orange Windows screen. I should be able to insert boot animation right after the second splash and before the Orange Windows splash correct? If so how do I do it on an Imagio?

Thanks,
Steve

You have two orange splash screens that you can change:
-The first one is inside OEM\Whitestone\Common\OEMDrivers: called welcomehead.png
-The second is in SYS\XXXXX\dpi_192_resh_480_resv_800\COMMON\Redist_ dpi_192_resh_480_resv_800 folder: called welcomhead.192.png

These file locations are assuming you are using EVK

Any chance we can get this to replace the black boot screen with HTC on it on the Imagio?

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=98906

I know we can change the bit after the black screen with some of those files, but what about the actual black boot screen?

If you are talking about cooking in a different animation, the two files are:

Startup.gif located in your OperatorPkg folder
Shutdown.gif located in your OperatorPkg folder

Or, if you aren't talking about cooking and you just want to use it, download the WVGA version of the one you like and install it.

I was talking about the Windows Mobile equivalent of the BIOS screen, the first thing you see when you turn on your phone, not the Verizon whoosh thing that comes on after that.:mrgreen:

The first boot splash on Imagio (the black htc logo) has to be flashed and your whitestone has to be hardspl'ed to change to a custom one. Its made up of the Main_splash.nb and Sub_Splash.nb.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405118 is a thread about it.

Attached is the stock boot splash.nbh I made to return you to stock should you mess it up. You will want to use the custom_Ruu for whitestone I made that you can download in the shipped radios for whitestone thread to avoid a hard reset after flash.

The other animations are controlled by these reg keys:
Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
"StartupGif"=""
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Poweroff]    ;shutdown animation on "0" is off
"PlayShutdownAnimation"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
"ShutDownGif"=""
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen]
"MSBitmap"=""
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen]
"CarrierBitmap"=""
