Re: Imagio users AGES (Take Note)

I've been reading this thread and I guess I'll have to chime in... as the oldest so far. I'm 64 and have worked as an electronic tech all my life (retired 18 mo. ago). My background is in hardware... from vacuum tubes, through the introduction of the first microprocessor and beyond. I built, from perf-board and wire wrap, and programmed a microcomputer waaaayyyy back when.

Having said all that, I'll admit to being a rank novice when it comes to tinkering this phone (Imagio), and I have benefited immensely from all the contributions I've found on this forum... from people of all ages. I envy the younger folks for the changes they'll see in technology in their lifetimes. The advancements in mine have been incredible.

Having a background in technology is kind of like being able to read music... it gives you the ability to apply your knowledge to different "instruments". Still, the young tinkerer, willing to experiment and play, to pop the hood and start pulling on wires is the foundation of everything we've done since we came down from the trees.

Keep up the great work guys. I, for one, appreciate it very much.

I'm 31. I think the Imagio is a very underrated device. I love mine. I had the motorola droid for about 6 hours, lol. It went right back to the store. I've been happy ever since. Although, the extended battery makes the imagio look like it is pregnant.

50 - I agree with you. My first WM device was black and white ipaq. That was an upgrade from a visor running palm os

Re: Imagio users AGES (Take Note)

I'm 37 and mom used to drive my brother and me to the Radio Shack 30 minutes away so we could take computer classes on Tandys. Our first home computer was the Commodore 64 and we thought we were programmers because we'd spend ours tediously copying code from a magazine onto the machine so we could play Downhill Skier or some such rudimentary game. I've had a computer and been into technology ever since but never got into programming or real propeller head stuff. Some web development here, technology sales, etc.

My first Windows mobile device was a hand-me-down iPaq that I found slow, cumbersome and not very useful. This phone/device is by far the most powerful, smallest and coolest mobile device I've owned. The iPhone continues to impress me as well though. I'm really enjoying the challenge of learning how to tweak the registry, install cabs, learning the lingo, anticipating ROMs, and everything else. Before I found PPCGeeks I had no clue there was so much customizing to be done to these devices. I love it!

As far as constructive contributions to this forum, it's the same on just about every forum I've ever been on. When there's not control or accountability there will always be people who act like brats. The trick is to quickly filter them out and focus on the real content.

I would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who researches, develops and contributes to this community. I've enjoyed it immensely and look forward to learning more as this ride continues.
