Device Lock v Turn Screen Off?

New to WM and the Imagio soooooo....other than the obvious (the screen doesn't immediately turn off) is there any difference between locking v turning screen off via the end key? Im assuming there must be a reason for the 2 options via pressing/holding the end key, but I cant seem to figure it what they may be.

Yes and no. When you hold the end (hard) button down the menu appears with the 4 options - power off, turn off screen, device lock, and set vibrate. I was just wondering if there is a difference between turn off screen and device lock other than with the latter the screen doesnt immediately turn off -- it seems to be duplicative w/the lock soft key

Also, is this end key functionality unique to the HTC/Imagio? Seems quite a bit of apps around for locking/screen off that are otherwise unnecessary

Screen off - just turns off the back light. Lock will require you to slide the unlock icon on the screen before you see the Today screen or home on Windows Phone. I hope that helps. I wish there was away to set a delay on the password require lock.

If you have the HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\DeviceLockWhenSuspend key set, then using the screen off button both turns the screen off and locks the device. If you have this key off, then the device doesn't lock when you turn the screen off. See http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=102075 for some more information.

Ahhhhh....I dont recall changing that key but that's the behavior (turns off + lock) that made me wonder why both options were present; especially w/the lock softkey if using TF3D....perhaps off + lock is default behavior. Is there any way to change the lock softkey on the TF3D home screen to have off + lock functionality?
