Broken Digitizer Screen

I can't believe this. I've only had this Hero for a month and my screen is broke. And the worst part is I have no idea how it happened. One minute I'm talking on my phone and a half hour later pull it out of my pocket and the whole screen is spiderwebbed. And I was selling this phone too so I could help pay for my Evo. Guess its back to my TP2 till my Evo gets here on June 4.

Just replace the digitizer. Way cheaper than replacing the phone.

Re: Broken Digitizer Screen

Oh yeah thats definitely the plan. I've replaced quite a few of these screens now and its really not difficult at all. I just couldn't believe less than 2 weeks to launch on the Evo and that happens to my Hero. But thanks for the input

I actually did my first "brain surgery" on my g1 recently, now i'm not afraid of smartphone internals anymore.

Re: Broken Digitizer Screen

Thats cool Once you get started on fixing your own stuff you'll find yourself get faster at it. This is my fourth digitizer I've replaced and it only took me 5 minutes total. Plus they're making it way easier since the first Tmobile wing I did for my wife 3 years ago.

I'll tell you one thing:

God did not intend for the G1 to ever be taken apart.

Yeah the phones with the keyboard are quite a handful especially the length of ribbon plugs. They make them so short its too easy to rip out on accident, but if you can do that you can pretty much fix any of these phones.
