Re: Got mine!

Edit: In case this helps anyone, I can confirm that the battery from the TP2 and the EVO will fit the shift. But the shift battery is NOT backward compatible with the TP2. This is because there are a couple of small plastic bits toward the bottom of the Shift battery that make it not fit in the TP2 (but the absence of those plastic bits does not prevent an older battery from working in the Shift).

Can you be more specific as to exactly what worked for you? I'm looking for a simple root, just sufficient for WiFi tethering.

I find the build quality far superior to any HTC phone i've owned so far (Titan, TouchPro, TouchPro2) especially the slider. It is not a spring loaded slide like the other ones i've had but i'm finding i like that, I believe it allows for a tighter mechanism and it feels overall way more solid.

Re: Got mine!

Well i was going to go through and answer a bunch of questions but looks like they've all been covered! If anyone wants to know anything specific about the phone from a former TP2 owner feel free to ask or PM.

Re: Got mine!

I'm trying to decide between the Evo and the Epic and the FM radio seems to be the best reason to go Evo Shift.

Can someone please confirm the FM radio receives local stations?
Do earphones need to be physically plugged in?
Are they included and what port to they connect do?

Questions may seem stupid, but I want to cover all the bases.

1. Yes, it's FM radio.
2. Yes, just like the evo.
3. Not likely and you plug any headphones into the 3.5 jack on it and it just uses the wire as the antenna.

Folks actually still listen to FM?

Re: Got mine!

Got mine on thursday, at Best Buy. Was a faithful TP2 guy. But, after three full days with this phone I'm like . WTF? Better camera, flash, no reset needed, and rock solid. Had my TP2 OC'd to 729mHz, but it was nothing like this. Had to reset about 6-8x's a day. With the Shift I have yet to even turn it off. Been pushing it hard to see what the limits are, and it flat out is great. Plus endless apps without having to adapt them to the phone. Yeah, I know this is all just my opinion( and we all know what they say about opinions ). But, from here on out I'm strickly Android. Only thing I might do is see if I can Overclock it. Yes, I'm that guy. Always gotta fiddle with things, see if I can make it go faster.
