Google Voice + Sprint integration

So I've been looking into this whole Google and Sprint integration and wanted to see if anyone had the scoop on the matter. First off, I know there are different ways that you can integrate:

1. Get Google Voicemail for your existing mobile number.
-Keep your existing number with your carrier and get the lite version of Google Voice which includes some of the most popular features like online voicemail and voicemail transcriptions.

2. Port your mobile number to Google Voice
-Porting means that you move your number from your carrier to Google Voice. You can then use the full set of Google Voice features without having to change your number.

And finally...
3. Use your Sprint mobile number with Google Voice
Sprint users can now seamlessly use their existing mobile phone number as their Google Voice number, without having to move their number from Sprint.

Number 1, you simply find a G number and use the Android app to access it. Number 2, you have to move things all around as far as canceling sprint service, porting the original number to Google, getting a NEW sprint number, and finally using your original number as the GV number.

I was curious about the last one. And if anyone had tried it, what their opinions were and the ease of use. As well as the matter of disabling GV service so you could just go back to normal sprint service, if need be. I just want to make sure if I add my sprint number to GV that it won't screw up my original sprint service as I am on a family plan, unlimited data, 1500 minutes.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I had it since before the "integration".....and everything worked and still works fine. all I did was use my mobile number for gv. I now notice a sprint logo next to my number. What's the difference now?

Cooler than your EVO

You don't have to use google voice...I believe you can still use handcent. I can still send txt messages from my phone (without using GV). The do show on GV. To receive them directly on your phone there is a check box next to your mobile phone on GV that says " Receive text messages on this phone"

Check it out...i haven't checked the box " Receive text messages on this phone" to see if it works...but it should.

Re: Google Voice + Sprint integration

GV, option #3 here. One difference I noticed today is when my wife called it announced, "You are receiving a call from ..., Press #1 to accept this call". My wife said it just rang on her end so nothing different. As soon as I hit "1", the call immediately was connected, no weird delays or anything.

Re: Google Voice + Sprint integration

Here are some of the options for advanced setup (and there are lots):
Receive voicemail notifications via email, text, or both, or none.
Forward calls to another phone, to all phones or to Google chat.
Text forwarding option to an email address.
Change recorded name.
Change recorded message.
Call Screening to force unknown callers to say their name.
Do Not Disturb.
Call receipt scheduling.
One of the coolest things is to create Groups that allows custom greetings and custom screening options.
Also, if you have a website or webstore, you can create a "Call Me" widget.

I'm going to stick with it for a while and see how it all shakes out.

Oh! And your call history, messages, etc. are all stored in your Google Voice box, just like a gmail box. Of course this means they will mine the snot out of your data, but if you are OK with that, then it is kinda cool.

I use it only for the transcribed vms. Is it possible to make international calls on free WiFi so I don't have to use international roaming?
