Screen won't come one, Phone rooted, needs replacement!

I need help. Today my Evo's screen crapped out. It literally faded to black in the middle of me answering an alarm. The backlight is on but the screen is completely black. I was going to take it to a repair center today then i remembered that the phone is rooted. I know they'll put me down for a replacement phone, but when it comes time to send it back, how can I get it back to stock so they don't see that I've voided my warranty?

I have turned in multiple phones through the years that have had custom ROMs, were HardSPL unlocked and rooted and have never had them come back to me complaining.

If I get a $400 bill somewhere down the road will you guys split it? Lol. I've never sent a rooted/jailbroken phone back so i wasn't sure. Aside from that I would like to wipre it clean as well but I guess I'm stuck.

Does you computer recognize your phone if you plug it in? Maybe there is a way you can wipe it that way. Like by installing a stock Sprint rom

If you can see it from the computer, you can install the latest 2.2 RUU

Microwave?

I'll try the RUU, does that kill the root as well? I haven't dropped the phone, got it wet or anything so I don't think it was me. This was a replacement I recieved because the charging port went bad on the first one. I'm thinking they gave me a refurb with an issue they didn't fully fix. Hoping I get a brand new one this time around.
