Evo clicks on its own. Is it virus??

Hi,
I recently got HTC EVO from best buy. After a day i updated it to Android2.2. If i remember correctly, the issue is started after upgrade.

Issue is :
When i use my phone for sometime continuously, after a while it works on its own. for example if i am browsing a webpage it clicks somewhere in the middle it goes back and forth, it scrolls up and down without my interaction. Or else if i am on home screen it traverse in between screents and it clicks somewhere. During that time i can't operate anything except power button. I will lock it and unlock so that i can use for some more time. Is it some sort of virus??
Surprisingly, over the weekend i was in Orlando on vacation. There it worked very well for almost 4 days, not even a single time this weird behaviour. Once i landed in Chicago the same issue started again.

Please suggest something.

Thanks

Re: Evo clicks on its own. Is it virus??

Yep! I had the same issue when I first got my phone. gradually it eventually just went away. And this was before an update to 2.2 (so that's probably not the issue). Also, I believe that I may have contibuted to this by unintentional touchs on a very sensitive screen?.

BTW I live in Chicago too, could that be the issue?.............. naw!

no it's not a virus..the same thing happened to mine like a day or two after I did the update. it started texting on it's own as well. I did a hard reset and that did not remedy the issue. I took it to sprint and the told me it was a bad cable that was connected to the display so they ordered me a new one

You mean this problem?

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=130284

Exchange the phone...Trust me..I just got my new one and this problem is now gone!!! I came so close to throwing the phone into a wall!!

I can tell you when I compared the two screens side by side my old screen looked like crap when viewing black. I couldn't believe it till I compared it right next to my new phone. The problem was also happened more when I would plug it in with a aftermarket charger..It also started doing it with the charger that came with the phone but not as bad.

MrDSL - You are right, its same issue. I glad you explained it perfectly. Yesterday i spoke to HTC customer care, i couldn't explain this issue. I will go to bestbuy and ask them for new one. The only thing i worried is its currently out of stock..

Thanks Everyone.

Yea weve been talking about this issue for a while....I just dont want to trade in my rooted evo back to sprint. I just dont want to hear their mouths about me rooting my phone. Not to mention all of the work and hours it has taken me to get this phone just right. I guess I'll have to wait till it gets so bad that i don't have a choice but to exchange it.
