Here what happen. I booted up the phone as normal, was still on the stock Rom that the phone came with, I'm in new york city so i figure the froyo update would be available, phone kept saying to update to version 1.4.651
so i did just that over wifi, now i did have unrevoked working on the phone cuz i never updated, but soon as i did everything looked like it was going through but then when it finish updated it stayed on the screen with the phone icon.

Took battery out and still the same thing just a icon on a black screen.

Re: Did i Brick my evo???

If not, you may have to battery pull, then hard reset via the bootloader: hold volume-down + power button. This will erase all data.

You are so rite. But what i notice is you have to go through the steps of updating.

You can go from stock to froyo, you have to update to the 1.4 first then froyo.

Question answered, all other need to be asked in correct existing threads.

Glad you got it straightened out.
