You need to have your phone rooted then use adb shell or root manager and delete sprintvvm.apk.

But before you delete it, have a backup first. I honestly don't donno if other program is using it.

I actually think VVM is pretty nice.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

If you don't mind me asking...why don't you want to use visual vm? You do know it downloads the vm to your phone so you dont have to burn your anytime min. Maybe you have another visual vm program..but i really don't see why you would want to get rid of it.

Re: how can I delete the visual voicemail icon?

I think he just want to remove it from his apps list not remove it from the phone. For instance when you open the app drawer it would be nice to see only the apps you want to see and not all the usless apps you cant delet because they are tied into something. I have lots of apps deleted but there is still a few in there that are needed because they are tied into something else. So even though I will never use them I still have to see them. They are in my way, it would be nice to hide them. I think this feature is out there but I havnt looked for it yet. I know ADW will have this option in the futur.

Re: how can I delete the visual voicemail icon?

Unless you know how to sign apps you can't just remove it from the app drawer (unless you delete it or rename the .apk to like .bak or .apk. even) If you remove it or rename it you won't be able to launch it though. Is there a folder that holds shortcuts that I am not aware of? Or even a file with shortcut information?

Thanks.

EDIT: I just got LauncherPro Plus from market and it has the option to "hide" apps. So yeah, that would be your best bet.

Re: how can I delete the visual voicemail icon?

I don't know what 20chalino46 has in mind but for me, apps like Messages or Visual Voicemail are not secured enough and especially VVM. I can't just hand over my phone to someone and not worry that the person is not going to listen to my VVM. I wish there's a way to password protect these features. This is regardless of whether I have something to hide in my messages. It's just a matter of privacy. So yeah, I would uninstall it any time and not just hide it.

You have 2 ways of removing the app, and both ways require you to root the phone.

1. Download Terminal Emulator from market
2. Use ADB SHELL from Android SDK

In either one, you send these commands:

Code:

su
mount -o rw,remount /dev/mntblock4 /system
rm /system/app/Sprint_VVM.apk
mount -o ro,remount /dev/mntblock4 /system
exit
exit

Re: how can I delete the visual voicemail icon?

It's what I did to get rid of Visual Voicemail on my EVO, then I downloaded "Voicemail Notifier" from the market to know when I have new voicemail.

Re: how can I delete the visual voicemail icon?

Well, newer update of Android on EVO does not have /system/app/Sprint_VVM.apk so only way I found to delete it was using (AGAIN) TitaniumBackup * root
