Re: Root method.?

Then just flash away via rom manager.

The tutorial threads are just too outdated, and confusing imo.

Unrevoked, then rom manager is all you need.

Unrevoked then flashing custom rom also gives you a full root. Spending all night was really not necessary. I was fully rooted in about 20 minutes.

re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

so far i have successfully rooted the phone using unrEVOked. I have the superuser permission/ninja icon showing up under apps. Now I'm having trouble understanding as to how to load a custom rom (ex:OMJ's). Ive read and tried steps off of this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-evo-4g...ustom-rom.html (post Eight) and have gotten no where. Once i hit recovery I see no "wipe" at all. Have i done something wrong? how can i correct this? I know its a pain seeing questions like this time and time again but Im just trying to learn here. Thanks

this is what I did to flash a custom rom..

- did a nandroid backup
- download the zip file of the custom rom you want and put it in the root of your sd card.
- go into recovery mode
- select wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- go into advance and wipe dalvik cache
- install zip from sdcard
- select custom rom zip file

after the phone finishes flashing the custom rom it's going to take awhile to load up for the first time so be patient.

goodluck!

re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

I have rooted thanks to this post. I just want to make sure I have a clear understanding of what this process does so please correct me if I'm wrong.

What I see and from what I've done, I assume that PC36IMG is the original EVO stock rom and we rename it to eng-PC36IMG so that whenever we go into recovery mode, the phone doesn't accidentally install the original stock rom putting you back into factory condition?

And if that is the case, if I ever need to take my device into a Sprint store, so my warranty isn't voided, I can simply Re-rename it back to (PC36IMG), flash it and be back un rooted and stock. Is this correct?

re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

I know.....Ive had the evo since day after launch and I am no concidering root, but I have one big question and that is.....

Does rooting require as much hard reseting as it does with winmo and flashing?
