Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

I am going crazy trying to root my friend’s Evo, I did mine so long ago using toast 1+ 2 method; which is a breeze compared to the unrevoked 3.21. I have tried everything to get the re-flash tool to move past : waiting for device:
I have tried:
1. downloaded HTC sync, not running it.
2. Running HTC sync, reboot, and then uninstall
3. Turning off anti-virus on computer
4. Switching USB cords
5. Ran unrevoked tool as the admin.
Nothing has worked…… Please help!

The hboot is 0.97, which should be rootable.

Thanks in advance

Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

So I have tried rooting my EVO for about 8 hrs already.....I think I've screwed up, by not really reading all the info before I started. Until I ran into issue and found out the process that I was rooting was wrong since my EVO came with Andriod 2.2 and with the 2.02 usb host thing.... Now I'm stuck trying to figure out to go back to it's original form. I don't know if I've bricked my EVO or not. I've tried the new method after reading a couple of forms but no luck... I can get to the recovery section but once I tried going to CMD to do certain things, it's say device is offline. Any help would greatly be appreciated

HTC EVO root problems?

So I was bought an HTC EVO by my loving father yesterday from Best Buy during Black Friday (WIN!!!).

Anyways, im trying to root it with the latest version of Unrevoked and it all goes fine until i click on the HBOOT USB option in the bootloader. after that, it simply reboots with the default HTC EVO 4G screen and then the sprint screen, and it vibrates once at the HTC EVO 4G screen. It doesnt give me the choice to install the update (press volume up or down to accept/decline). I noticed in my about phone section that is says my software version is 3.30.651.2. Could that be it? if so, is there another way to root my phone?

I also just had a thought: i have the android SDK installed on my computer along with eclipse, since i thought it was going to program for Android. could those drivers be messing with it?

Make sure you don't have htc sync installed. Also, if you already got to the step of running the unrevoked program there is no need to do anything with the usb bootloader anymore. When I did it I just did the volume up thing in the beginning and ran the program. Hope that helps.
Curious, how much did you pay for your evo?

Ive been browsing the tutorials also. Im not exactly a noob (been doing stuff since like 2002) but this is the first time im attempting to root a phone. The tutorials seem kinda confusing, and since i have the newest OTA updates ill wait till they get better tutorials out.

Unrevoked doesn't work on the newer phones, specifically any phone with 3.30.651.# software version or the phones that have HBOOT 2.02.
