Re: How to Root Your Evo

New to android rooting here! Have a quick question...

When it says

"You can do that by plugging in the phone, choosing "HTC Sync" and going to your favorite command line prompt and typing:

adb shell mv /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip /sdcard/root-PC36IMG.zip"

Is this command line prompt on the PC, if so does it appear automatically?

-boot phone into bootloader, load new recovery with root and adb access provided by PC36IMG.zip (userdebug RUU).

-now run the EVO-recovery.zip created here on your local computer thru adb it will move over all the custom binaries required including a custom recovery binary and start it.

-now with the custom binaries loaded into recovery and a custom recovery binary itself (allows flashing of unsigned .zip files), you can select to flash a custom ROM.

Thanks for the post OMJ, I will be getting my EVO tomorrow and haven't had time to read about android. Have no clue how this works, but your posts are helping me out! Will definitely try out your ROM once I get the hang of this.
