Sprint 4G / HTC Evo on CNN

CNN posted some info on Sprint's Wimax and the HTC Evo.

http://money.cnn.com/video/technolog..._evo.cnnmoney/

The dude said "4G is about 4 times faster than 3G" lol
obviously he doesn't know much but cool video nonetheless..

Re: Sprint 4G / HTC Evo on CNN

Well, if WiMax is currently topping out around 10mbps, and Sprint's 3G tops out at 2-3mbps, I'd say he's about right...

What device are you using or are you using a 4G hotspot? Otherwise, I thought the EVO was the first 4G phone so there wouldnt be a way to tell a difference.

Wimax is only "topping out" at 10mbps because that's what sprint has it capped to but technically once fully deployed it's capable of 50mbps+ but obviously we won't see those speeds any time soon.

seems the guy in the CNN video thinks "4G" means 4x faster..perhaps he doesn't know it means 4th gen. these reporters typically read off a script and are clueless most of the time.. just like how he mentions google is loading a "live feed from the satellite" while trying the Evo. someone should tell him they're just old catched images loading from google's server.

probably using the Overdrive or some other 4G aircard however it isn't exactly fair to compare a phone against an aircard

yes those guys are clueless.
and yeah i'd imagine sprint does have speed capped until full deployment but the spec on WiMax is that it is capable of 75Mbps up and 75Mbps down so eventually it'll be a lot faster
