Car charger that works ?

I have 2 microUSB chargers - a 12v to USB converter, and a no-brand one with a 2A fuse (which means the actual current is less, I guess).

The problem is, neither of them would maintain charge with GPS running. Even with wifi off, I am losing about 1% every 10-15 minutes with unit plugged in. Which means using the phone for daylong car trips, as I am used to with my TP2, could be problematic.

Can anyone recommend a charger that works ? What the specs are ?

I have the same problem. If GPS is on and I'm traveling, I'm losing approximately 2.5% per hour.

Re: Car charger that works ?

Car chargers don't charge at a rate even close to a 110v outlet, same with charging the phone via a computer and USB Cable. I have heard that they only charge at 50% of what a 110v outlet charges at.

I have never tried this, but you could plug a small wattage inverter for $20 or so, that allows you to plug a normal 110v charger into it and then try charging your phone that way.

It has always been an issue that you could have your phone plugged into your car charger and then start a phone call and eventually, the phone will run out of battery power because the charger just does not put enough charger into the phone to both charge it and use it.

With TP2 I was able to travel for 17 hours straight with GPS working and music playing all the while maintaining charge.

That Belkin charger - age you actually using it and if so does it maintain charge?

Re: Car charger that works ?

Well, I picked up a Duracell charger that says "HTC and Blackberry" (incidentally, BB has the same issue with most chargers not being powerful enough). The store was just a few miles away so no really conclusive test yet, but it does seem that the device went from 76% to 78% with GPS on... will see tomorrow how it behaves on an hour long drive to work.
