Something's off with the 3D...

The image isn't the best, and i apologize for that, but does something seem "off" to you? Image was reportedly taken from the Radio Shack tutorial on how to do a hard reset. First correct guess gets a cookie! :D

I already know what you are referring to from elsewhere, so I won't say it. Hopefully the phone actually is that way.

That image is definitely from the Radioshack thing, here's a better quality that might let people see what you're looking for:

I hope its unlocked. For what it worth a local sprint tech said they were shipping locked and then receiving a update to unlock them. I hope he is wrong.

HTC is prepping to unlock the Sensation's bootloader

princem131 06-08-2011 03:44 PM

Re: Something's off with the 3D...

That would make sense, since I saw that HTC is working on an update to unlock the Sensation's bootloader it would only make sense to do the E3D out of the gate. Especially since they are waiting until late June. I'm sure they don't want to deal with the PR of explaining why its locked and having to push out an unlock update especially considering that the E3D generated the majority of the locked bootloader uproar imo

pinkbunniz,

When I went to put in my order for two of the 3ds yesterday, the person who helped me said that he had modified his phone, I laughed and said that then he would not be able to get any service.

He told me that was not so and that the policy had changed so that the people with the insurance would get repairs to their phones even if they had custom ROMs on them. I would assume that this is for equipment or system failures not caused by the ROMs and covered by the TEP.

Have you heard this???

Thanks

pinkbunniz 06-09-2011 01:53 PM

@Wizzard

No I haven't. It is still considered modifying your phone and the techs won't touch it. As for the stores that order replacements you still need to flash back to stock before they help you. Im not sure where he was getting his information from.
(I work at a store that orders.)

One of my boys broke his screen on his Evo. We took it to the Sprint store, and they fixed it. No questions asked, no charge, no hassles, etc. We do have the insurance though. And his phone was obviously rooted, and running OMJ's ROM on that particular day.

It may be by whatever district and regional managers are accepting, but I know in my area for a fact they won't touch it. Also, if you're going to authorized service centers (third party Sprint stores) they are sometimes less worried about it. :)

Nah, this was a Sprint corporate store. They're the only ones with repair centers around here. I think it's probably the same policy everywhere, but some places care more than others.

Re: Something's off with the 3D...

Could also be because it was just a broken screen they could fix without ordering a replacement or something to that effect where they weren't worried about what software was running on the phone...

There are a few stores in Denver that will repair/replace phones with custom roms. Obviously if its purely a software issue they insist you flash back to stock before considering additional steps.

hi pink,
was wondering if your phone arrived and how it compares hands on to the evo.. oh also is it unlocked? :mrgreen:

pinkbunniz 06-15-2011 09:04 PM

@hidaya

I got it today, i was able to put it into bootloader mode and as much as I love my evo 4G the 3D is much smoother and the new sense is really convienent. I only got about an hour in with it today, but that hour I saw some really impressive improvements

I needed to replace the internal speaker on mine a month ago and was worried it being rooted, so I unrooted and went in. While they fixed it, one of the reps pulled me aside to show me his Evo with Calk Evio1.8 rom on it.... I was like damn! I unrooted...LOL. I really think it depends on where you go.

Ah! Tease! lol

How is typing on it? What are your thoughts on the call quality?

I know it's right around the corner for us regular peeps, but we want to know! (I'm jealous. :p)

I like the typing its very responsive and the tactile feedback is much more noticeable. As for call quality I've only been able to use it in the store so I've had good reception lol but the integrated noise cancelling seems to be much better than expected. Hope this helps a bit
