question about phone use & net use

I did search but I don't use Verizon or the Incredible so I didn't find what I was looking for. :) I have a co-worker who is wanting to know if she can use her phone as a hot spot for free (I told her more than likely yes) and also be able to use her phone if something were to come up. I asked her if she had an internet connection on her phone would it also ring and she told me she didn't know. Of course I can't test or figure this all out for myself because I don't have Verizon or the phone. Does anyone here know? I'm sure someone does! :)

Re: question about phone use & net use

It has to be rooted in order to do it for free. Otherwise it's like $20 a month (I think) to do it using Verizon's app.
If she was to get a call while connected, all it would do is disrupt the data connection when the call came in, and she would receive the call as normal. Same goes for texts and outgoing calls. (Verizon can't do voice & data at the same time.)

ahh. thanks! :) She needs to be able to be on a conference call and the internet while traveling, so I will tell her she needs to figure something else out. I did find though, using easytether or pdanet it doesn't cost extra. Is this true? She has unlimited date on her phone plan. (but in order to use it as a hot spot it would cost extra?)

Yep. I had forgotten about those two programs. Technically any tethering (wireless or usb) would need a different plan from Verizon. However you can do it with those programs without a charge. I just wouldn't do any extreme amounts of data because they could drop her.
