Thinking about going Root and flashing

I'm tired of waiting on 2.2 to come out. So i decided i'm gonna root my phone and put it on there myself.

Have the easy root tool from this site, But i was wondering, where is Nandroid so i can make a backup of my ROM..

I also have the 2.2 official that was leaked. wondering if there was a better ROM out there or not.

Re: Thinking about going Root and flashing

Are you asking where to go to make the NAND backup? Once you root, in recovery there is an option to backup/restore. You do it from there.

I've been running the second leaked 2.2 since the day after it leaked out. I haven't had any major problems.

Re: Thinking about going Root and flashing

okay, rand into a snag, I rooted my phone, But i guess to flash to the 2.2 ROM i need an updated radio (according to a guide i found here http://www.jonamerica.com/technology...yo-2-2-update/ ) So it told me to unroot, and here is where i am stuck. downloaded the file they told me to. And put it in my SD card, and now where it says reboot to the bootloader it wont load the file. downloaded 3 times.

using the unrEVOked utility (clockworkmod i think) and trying that way it says
"E:Can't open /sdcard/p31img.zip
(bad)"

When you say you have the easy root tool from this site, did you do unrevoked forever? (Looks like it was updated on this site today) I don't know that it makes a difference, just reaching for something it might be.

Re: Thinking about going Root and flashing

I'm trying to find the guide and file I used when I did it, but I'm not having any luck.

Only thing I did stumble across is apparently some people ran into the same problem because the SD card wasn't formatted to FAT32.

Re: Thinking about going Root and flashing

Mine was FAT reformatting to FAT32 as we speak. I'll put just that on my SD card and see how that works as well.

Sure enough that worked, it's installing as we speak. Thanks for the help!

Re: Thinking about going Root and flashing

Awesome. Glad it worked because I had no other ideas what might be causing the problem.
