Battery Left Calibration
 

Battery Left wants me to drain my battery until it's completely dead from a full charge to get a correct reading on my estimated usage and time left, is this safe? I think I've read that it's not good for the battery to let it get too low or even die. Anyone else uses this program? What have you done? Thanks.

Actually everything I have ever read about batteries is to let them drain all the way before charging. That way your battery doesn't get "battery memory" and will last longer. But this is just what I remember reading numerous times. I don't always do it but my batteries seem to last awhile longer than others who charge at say 50%

I brought it down to 14% before I plugged it in, I definitely don't have an issue with battery 20 hours to 14% isn't bad at all :-)

I use Battery Left and I just drained and charged my phone like I normally would... I always unplug it in the morning, and plug it in before bed at whatever percent it happened to drain down to throughout the day. It took a couple days before the widget showed it was "accurate" but it seems to be in the ballpark of what it should be.

This will be my first charge from a low battery with it installed, it's sitting at moderate now, so it shows "accurate" for the last stage?

Yep. It took more than one charge before it showed accurate instead of moderate. It was either 2 or 3.

lithium ion batterys don't exhibit a "memory" like other types of batteries. You can run the risk of destroying the battery chemistry if you run it below a certain point.

I have run my down to about 5%, which is probably close to the limit. If you calibrate battery left until the phone says to plug it in you should have an accurate picture of you day to day use.

I still got "moderate" after charging from 14% left, the update they released today shows in red where needs more reading, it was red from 14% and below, I guess I could just deal with that, I'm averaging around 24 hours from my usage. So if I let the phone die it can damage the battery is what your saying?

i don't know for sure, but if you were to drain you battery ALL the way down to 0% then there is a possibility that you could damage your battery. There is a very good possibility that HTC has put a safety in place, making it so you can never actually get you battery to the point where you would damage it.

Just use your battery as you normally would. For the sake of battery left i would suggest running it until android suggest you charge you phone (14% i believe) that way you will get the most accurate picture of how much battery you have left. That's what i did and it seems to be pretty much right on. I'm also trying out juice defender right now, it claims to be able to extend battery by at least 10% so i'm going to see what happens.
