Want better battery life? Worth a try...

Try this.

1. Press HOME, and bring up the dialer. Dial *#*#4636#*#* (Do not press "Call").

2. After a second, it should bring up the "Testing" menu.

3. Go into Phone Information, press MENU, and tap "select radio band." You should experience a Force Close, don't panic, this was supposed to happen.

4.Scrolling down shows that the preferred network type is GSM auto (prl).

What this means is that even though you are connected to a CDMA network, your phone is trying to find a GSM network, preventing the radio from sleeping, and causing excessive battery drain.

Remedy this by tapping GSM auto (prl), and changing it to CDMA auto (prl).

Now your done, your TWS should drop dramatically, and you should experience much better battery life!

Re: Want better battery life? Worth a try...

Mine was set to GSM. Since it changed this to CDMA at around noon, my battery hasnt dropped past about 80%. This is under heavy usage. About 100 texts and 2 phone calls

If your phone is set to GSM auto, changing to CDMA auto is def worth a shot

Re: Want better battery life? Worth a try...

Just changed mine. I will report back with my experience. I am a HEAVY user; on the phone MOST of the day via Bluetooth (being a self-employed IT Engineer). I have to talk clients through procedures several times a day, not to mention friends and family calling, plus 5 email accounts and tons of texting. I usually have to charge my phone several times a day or it will die.

Hope this helps the battery life.

Re: Want better battery life? Worth a try...

Been suing for 2 weeks and have seen tremendous improvement with my battery, need to reset every 2-3 days tho. use phone all day heavy and at 11:00 still have 45% left. I'm using 17oo Bat. Charges the best if i reset before i charge. But from what I read it works different on some phones

Re: Want better battery life? Worth a try...

I tried it. Looks like it's dropping fast as usual. Take it off the charger at 8am and by 11 it's just about dead (some FB browsing, about 50 texts and no calls- that's it.)

Oh well. Back to the drawing board...
