Built New ROM

I have built my first ROM. I was wondering how people felt when it came time to put the ROM on their phone? I am a little nervous about it.

Well, I always figure I can re-build and re-flash :).

Just in case you don't know already, here's a thread on how to recover when it gets stuck on boot.

Yeah just read it. Downloading shipped ROM right now. I thought I had it already... SO now I have to figure out what is wrong with the ROM I built.

I got it to flash to shipped ROM. I then flashed the old ROM I was using. I will have to go back into mine and see what I can find. I obviously wanted my own custom ROM. I imported a bronzeres.dll from my old ROM to use in the new one. That may have caused a problem? I also added a font to the default font folder. Added a different start menu setup. Is there an emulator to run on pc first to see if a ROM will work?

I get this error. WHat exactly does it mean? Is there a 6.5 NK.exe? Can I change the default amount of modules I can install? I think this is set for 535.

ERROR!!!!!
543 Modules present; Too many modules.... with 6.1 NK.exe and 6.5 XIP you' ll have non-bootable ROM.... Exiting...

Are you using visual kitchen? The Ext Build/XIP Build/Sys Build need to be consistent. For example if you are looking to build a 6.1 rom. You need to select (6.1-Ext Build, 6.1 XIP Build, 21055-Sys Build). If 218xx builds, pick (6.5-Ext Build, 6.5 XIP Build, 218xx-Sys Build). The 23xxx and 235xx builds are 6.5.1. Here are a couple threads with pics that are a basic overview of visual kitchen. hope this helps.

remaining pics are in the second post: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...postcount=8918

**lastly sounds like you you made too many selections in the kitchen. try to limit the amount you select. You can always install many of these via cab to internal storage freeing up tons of space. :)

What kitchen are you using and where did you get the SYS? There is not 6.5 NK for our Diamonds, so we're stuck with 6.1 and it's limitations. You'll need to recmod some modules to get a usable ROM. There are many modules that can be recmodded in the Common folder inside the sys and scripts to automate it. Once you tell us your kitchen and setup, we can help more.

You will want to recmod files in the sys. Make sure you don't check native 6.5 AKU, that is for the 6.5 oemxipkernel, and the diamond doesn't have one unfortunately.
Check this for recmoding.

With the 6.1 kernel, you only have slot 0,60,61 open for modules, you do not want to fill up slot 0 though because slot 0 is for running programs in windows, virtual memory [quick translation].
Modules are .exe .dll .mui that have been converted into folders with a few files inside, s000, s001, imageinfo.bin.

Read this for a more indept explination, every chef should read this, da_g explains it very thoroughly.
