Will GPS still work for CDMA if I disconnect service?

Hi, I've had this phone since it came out and like it a lot but its time for an upgrade. (Thinking about the Hero.) Anyway, if I disconnect this phone and upgrade, could I still use it for GPS and regular PDA function even without cell phone "service"? This is of course assuming I load the maps and run a program like TomTom or IGO8?

It should work but don't expect very quick locks or locks while indoors.

Mine works like a charm without service. Also the best part is that when traveling overseas the phone with wiFi works like a charm with Skype. This is the reason why I still say that the Diamond still has a high level of value even if service is no longer active.

Make sure you download the program QuickGPS too.
