Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

Hi,

I have tried to search for stable rom's but can't find one. I've tried the Juicy7 & 8, both freeze up periodically. I've tried the Mighty 4, & 6, both have issues as well - can't seem to find a good keyboard. I've tried Premier, also freezes and very poor touch keyboard. I tried to download the JonRom but all the links take you to a site with no real download url, even signed up for the web site. I've also tried several others but just can't seem to find one stable that doesn't freeze up. If I can find one that is stable and good utilization of batter that would be great. Also, looking for Touch Diamond keyboard .cab files. I'm looking for a full keyboard layout but has somewhat larger buttons. I have .cabs for almost everything else so I can build up my phone how I like it.. just seems like they all freeze up.

please help! I'm hating my touch diamond about now because I can't seem to find a good rom but one that is over a year old.

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

I cooked up my own rom in calkulin's kitchen. Its 21055(6.1) with htc dialer, an old manila 1.3 and very few added apps.

I seems to be very stable...its not fancy or awesome but it works great. The only 6.5 rom I tried that was stable was Indagroove latest 6.5(21864). That rom is great and I love the theme but it has no manila in that version...not a big fan of plain 6.5.

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

ok first: +1 means that they agree and are looking for the same thing...

As for a stable Rom that doesnt freeze... Good luck man. lol. No matter how stable the rom may be, ANY PPC phone is gonna freeze from time to time. The processors are just not big enough to handle all the stuff we want them to do. If you want to avoid freeze-ups and crashes as much as possible then the best bet is gonna be using a very basic no frills 6.1 rom. But in my opinion thats not really the point of flashing.

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

Ahh.. I see sorry for my ignorance :) I've been a fan of this site for a few years and never knew that!. Anyhow.. I have had one Rom that did the trick but was just looking for something new. I actually never froze, ever and I used it for about 6 months. I want to say it was an early version of Mighty. The might rom I had was so stable, never locked up but I lost it. All I really care about is for VPN to work, Internet Sharing, RDP app/VNC and text, picture, mail that is about it. I don't need a bunch of fancy apps just business tools to do anything remotely. if anyone finds one let me know. I'm using SSK 3.0 and so far so good, just connected via VPN to my office PC using my data connection. only time will tell with the lock ups.. Anyone have the VNC .cab file?

You could give mine a go. Titanium only, but it runs as stable as can b expected. I'm not seeing any lag. Medium Hill Rom

Mine's probably the most stable release atm.

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

fbeck01,

i had the same dilema months ago.. i flashed the stock rom and just threw diamondtweak and cleanram on top (best battery life ever).

right now i am using calkulin 21055 v4. very good rom, no freezes for about 2 months.. battery does not last as long as the stock rom.

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

Too bad theres not a stability testing program like a stress test for PC's. That would be pretty cool to see how all the Rom's stack up.

My rom is one of the most stable due to it's lightweight, 6.1.

Which beats any 6.5 automatically.

I second that...

Then cooks could find problems that effect battery life and stability:)

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

Yeah, it would be cool to find out about battery life and things of that nature that way, but it would be hard to test everything all the time with all the different carriers and phones and roms. It's a cool idea, but i think a little hard to put into action. Especially when all Rom's are soo different with all the different things the chef's do to them, from different reg edits, tweaks, and software. I just say try them all!!! And then decide which works best for you, mine might work good for one person but not so good for the next and so on. Unfortunately, I have yet to find that "Perfect never gonna use anything else" Rom, lol, Flashing is part of what makes this fun, so try them all and if you get bored, download a kitchen and try your own hand at it.

You ever tried mine >_>

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

Actually yes, I have tried pretty much every rom on here, as I like to see what everyone is doing with their roms. Funny how under the hood they are all the same, but when a chef gets done with it, all the roms can look different and act different. I'm not a big fan of manilla or rhodium so i tend to stay with the titanium. But generally speaking, you are correct that 6.1 can be more stable than 6.5 or 6.5.1, it's been around longer and tends to be more refined.

Intx i tried yours before but i couldn't really get to work right all the time like youtube not working, but do i need to flash back to stock rom, then flash to your rom, then hard reset to get the best stability, because im thinking of going back to your rom. I think it was the stablest out of others.

I've found GadgetROM to be the most stable and fastest so far. The battery life is great, although for some odd reason today I had the worst battery life ever lol, but that's a one-time exception.

I'm in exactly the same dillema, especially with the freezes while texting!

I love my Touch Diamond, but without a (6.5 or 6.5.1) stable rom I'm having a hell of a time now. I do not want to go back to 6.1, no no.

@intx:
U mentioned trying out your rom, but you didn't provide any link(s) to your thread.

Any help would do...please :( Thanks in advance.

UPDATE @intx:
never mind, I just realized you have 6.1.

You can give mine a try if you want. it's 6.5.1 and i'm uploading a 6.5 now. So far everyone who's tried it seems to like it. Fast and stable. I have a couple of different builds. Link is in my signature.

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

I'm using the EnergyROM from Oct17th and it seems the most stable that I have used in a while. I've only had it for a couple days but it seems faster and more stable than intx, juice7 or mighty. The absolutely most stable ROM I've used is an old Juicy 4.xx I don't know if that is even available anymore.

No doubt that would be awesome! anyone have a great resource for download .cab files? Looking for the
  • WiFi internet sharing
  • VNC
  • Restart
  • Facebook plugin for contacts (not sure what app this is but its installed on SSK 3.0, pretty cool)
  • Incall recording
  • Game apps
Any help with finding a good .cab download resource would be great! thanks

Hey thanks!! One thing though - I really hate the keyboard.. it only comes with the FingerKeyboard and Keyboard.. the FingerKeyboard is cool but you can't switch between special characters and numbers.. there is no Ctrl key to change to those characters you have to hold down the button for a sec. kinda lame I know but looking for slightly larger keys that allow you to change.. unless you know how to change to those buttons?

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

You just gotta learn how to play with the configuration files. If you want larger keys check out BigKeys on XDA. I made a VGA template of that and if you want to edit it further that is up to you. Just go into the skin files and it is laid out there. If you have questions or want something specific PM me and I will help.

As far as a stable ROM, I just downloaded Calk's Kitchen and made my own with Titanium and the regular phone canvas.

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped in this post it was very helpful! I'm using now what appears to be a very stable and FAST ROM, also doesn't seem to freeze up when messaging of any kind. I tried almost every ROM that is available in the past week, I tried every ROM suggested in this post and I think the most stable ROM (for a Sprint HTC Diamond Touch) by far is the TruXt WWE build date 0/6/01/09. I am still looking for a few .cab files but so far this looks solid. Would love to still find a good VNC .cab file and the cab file that allows you to send audio wav files etc. not the MMS picture mail I have that one. Again thanks everyone!!!

As for feed back on the other ROMs, what I found was that many of the ROMs had bugs in messaging such as hitting send and it goes into the draft folder, freeze ups primarily when messagin and lastly and maybe the worst is many of them did not correctly close apps leaving them open.

Re: Looking for stable Touch Diamond ROM and good battery utilization

I've tried about a dozen ROMs over the last 6 months. I like WM6.5 and I'm happiest with EnergyRom4. It seems to lock-up only at the end of an occasional phone call (after they've hung up on me), and this seems to become less common the longer I've been using the ROM (since I hard reset it last). Its has more apps than I need. The battery life is ok (usually between 57 and 135mA draw). I still need to recharge it every night.

Prost.
