Flashing back to shipped - an alternative

Hi all,

I see lots of references to flashes gone bad, and suggestions to flash back to shipped first. I have a tried-and-true alternative that is much faster, and once you get it configured, simpler. Simply follow the instructions located in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290, and then either reboot to the bootloader (voldown+power+reset) or flash from internal storage (voldown+backbutton+power+reset) to flash.

Hardest part for me was getting the right version of the device driver to work under Vista; however MTTY now works like a charm. I don't take responsibility for anything bad happening, though these Diamonds are pretty much impossible to brick so have fun.

Ok, I think I get it now. You format the phone before you flash it from internal storage?

My own method is to always copy the new rom to the INternal Storage first. I already keep the stock rom there. Flash from Internal Storage twice and I'm done/
Hi Bushrod - first page, specifically the first two posts. The MTTY commands will reformat the phone (but not Internal Storage - don't fret) and fix any bad blocks, which I suggest is the source of random bad flashing. It takes just seconds as opposed to a reflash.
