Phone locks up and then hard resets auto

I don't understand and haven't come across anything yet, but the problem is that when I flash any rom the phone locks up in different parts of setting up my personal settings or even downloading something with opera. I soft reset and it either hard resets or gets stuck at boot screen everytime. I just got this phone today as a replacement for the previous phone doing it. There is no particular rom, the phone is unlocked. My wife has the same phone and hers works perfectly.

does it even happen on your stock sprint rom?

The phone that I turned in a couple hours ago had to be hard reset twice this morning and it was completely stock and locked
