Gps question

i am not sure how, but one of the roms i flashed was using my google maps in a very similar way like blackberry. it was tracking me by cell phone towers also, i believe, showing radius i could be in. i also noticed the lock was faster and in general i was actually liking the gps, but i don't have that on my current rom. what contributed to the gps tweak? was it agps? advanced config says my agps is enabled but i dont get that radius tracking. i have the latest google maps too. is it the r1.5 then?

Re: Gps question

Read the sticky on GPS and use QPST to program it for your phone.

Re: Gps question

Have no problems with GPS itself per se. However... I cannot get the phone to use cell phone coordinating. This creates a problem in BING. "My Location" is completely unusable in BING and cannot be found in Google if the GPS is turned off. My understanding is that if GPS is not available, cell phone triangulation will give an approximate location. This isn't working.

Re: Gps question

yes, i know what ur talking about. i am looking for exactly that. i am not sure if it was because of googlemaps or the 6.5.1 rom but i was right away tracked by the nearest cellphone tower prior to engaging direct gps location. this is handy as sometimes gps wont lock at all in congested or weathered areas. plus that option worked very well for automatically syncing weather, and my location in general.
i noticed calkulin posted an updated to google location services so i am trying to get a hold of that in any form, cab, zip, registry. i downloaded the latest google maps but that cellphone tracking is not working for me either because of the sys, or because of device id. i am not sure which.
