Help with Sprint Diamond on Altell.

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster.
I seem to be having a few problems that do not seem to be covered in the forums before.
So I had a Touch Pro on Alltel that I bought in February with a 2 year plan. Unfortunatley I lost it a month ago. Instead of spending the money on a new Touch Pro I decided to go with a Diamond to hold me off until better phones start coming out (I'm looking at you HTC Leo). I bought the replacement Sprint Diamond off of eBay expecting to easily transfer it to Altell. Well it's easier said than done. I tried to reset the MLS to all 0's with QPST but the problem is that everytime I dial ##DIAG or it's variants I get a message from Sprint saying "Your account could not be validated please contact customer services". Is there something I'm missing here? It refuses to even let me go any further and this is gettingquite frustrating...especially since I'm getting divested to Verizon Wireless on the 17th, and I don't really care to go through activating my phone with them.

Any help would be greatly appreceated .

You need to add another #. Did you flash the Alltel ROM?

Re: Help with Sprint Diamond on Altell.

Yes I've got the official Altell ROM installed, I've already tried it with the extra number. I've tried all the variations of ##DIAG#.

Hmm that's odd. Did you try a DCD Carrier Cab?

Re: Help with Sprint Diamond on Altell.

Yep, I've got the Alltel 20081031 DCD cab.

To get into diagnostics mode you have to dial ##DIAG# or ##DIAG or run DMROUTER.EXE with this parameter /DIAG

Check out thispost I made:

Re: Help with Sprint Diamond on Altell.

Wow thanks. That completely solved it. Unfortunately I haven't gotten data to work yet. And a minor thing is that it still says Sprint at the top right...even after a reflash.

I guess I must have needed the right drivers, because I had tried both ##DIAG and ##DIAG# but to no avail.

Thank you so much.

to get data working...is your login and password correct? Login is your 10 digit number@alltel.net (5555555555@alltel.net) and password is alltel.

Still says sprint? have you flashed it to an alltel stock rom? that should take care of them apples.

Re: Help with Sprint Diamond on Altell.

Thanks I didn't realize I had to have a password. All the information I read said to leave it blank, but that was for Verizon.

Under the security tab in EPST I have:
HDR AN AUTH User Id: ##########@alltel.net
HDR AN AUTH Password: alltel

Under M.IP Default Profile I have:
NAI: ##########@alltel.net
HA Shared Secret: alltel
AAA Shared secret: alltel

Then I just discovered tonight that M.IP Customer Profile 1 had the old Sprint info in it, so I changed it all to:
NAI: ##########@alltel.net
HA Shared Secret: alltel
AAA Shared secret: alltel

With all that I still cannot get a data connection. Do I need to change the Primary or Secondary HA Address? I would imagine they are still set for Sprint.

Right now the only connection I have is Alltel Wireless and it's set for #777. I vaguely remember having a DATA connection as well on my Touch Pro, but I think I remember that being for tethering.

Right now I'm running Mighty Rom but I did have the stock Alltel Rom installed while I got it to work for Alltel. Do you know where I can find the shipped Alltel Rom?

In the sticky in the Upgrades section I think.

Ok thanks. I just flashed the Shipped Alltel Rom, and it still says Sprint. :(

Re: Help with Sprint Diamond on Altell.

Go into /Windows/EPST.exe (should be ##778) and see if you can check your data settings in there compared to an Alltel device.

Re: Help with Sprint Diamond on Altell.

I'm guessing that should be ##778. Unfortunately I don't have another Alltel device.

Re: Help with Sprint Diamond on Altell.

***
your HDR AN AUTH Password - is wrong
it should be 8-digit hex form of your ESN
convert your MEID (A00000xxxxxxxx) to ESN(XXXXXXXX)

that will defintly cause authentcation failures

PPP password is alltel
AAA Shared secret: alltel (good)

- HA password should be weird jumbled letter number value, it might be temp value sent to phone when connection is made but i'm not sure on that one, but i know its not alltel

~ personal i'd correct the HDR AN AUTH Password: to your ESN, then power cycle and test

http://www.previo.net/meid-esn-converter.html

also best mode on alltel for MIP_MODE
is mobile IP prefured

check you modem settings
preferred mode - auto
HDR hybrid preferred - enabled

let us know if the HDR AN AUTH Password fixes your issue :)
