Mighty 4 to Mighty 6 Rom Upgrade restore with Sprite Backup?

I'm using Mighty 4. Have been using it for a little while. Is it possible for me to backup using Sprite backup, then install Mighty 6 (Winmo 6.5) and restore from Sprite backup?

If so, do a full restore? Or only restore certain files?

I don't want to corrupt the registry or something, if the new rom uses a lot of different settings..

Re: Mighty 4 to Mighty 6 Rom Upgrade restore with Sprite Backup?

Hi, I havent used Sprite Backup in some time, but I've yet to find a backup program that does a real full backup (installed programs, email setttings, etc.) that works correctly. I would do a backup of your contacts, tasks, & calendar Items and nothing else. Then reinstall any programs you might want.
I normaly use PIMBackup for this and it works like a champ.
Good luck in upgrading and remember to flash back to shipped before flashing to the new ROM.

Re: Mighty 4 to Mighty 6 Rom Upgrade restore with Sprite Backup?

I'm already back to stock. About to flash Mighty 6.

I made a backup using Sprite backup beforehand. Just wondering about only restoring some things like PIM, Bookmarks.. vs trying to restore everything. I'm lazy... I can pick things from Sprite I guess and see what works. Was just hoping someone might have tried already.

It's the cloudy weather.

I think your best bet is to backup everything you can yourself incase Sprite doesn't work.

Re: Mighty 4 to Mighty 6 Rom Upgrade restore with Sprite Backup?

Backing up the complete system won't work ... too many differences between 6.1 and 6.5. Your best best is to do like everyone has suggested, back up your contacts, emails, etc ... then install your programs and reg edits by hand. Seriously, you might want to learn Sashimi, in order to make your future rom changes less painful. On a side note, I use SPB to back-up my current rom, just in case something goes wrong, or if I try a different custom rom, and decide to go back. In which case, always 1) re-flash "shipped" 2) flash custom rom 3) and lastly, apply the back-up.

Post-holiday syndrome ... back to work ... crappy mood. And if that weren't enough, the price of gas jumped up around here. Doesn't affect us old retired farts ... we're just happy diddling with our devices ... lol!
