Upgrading Verizon Diamond

A friend of mine got a Diamond after seeing all the fun I was having with my TP, but unfortunately, he has Verizon. I've searched plenty and I've found that there's no unlocker for the vz Diamond (though why, I'm still not sure).

So my question is, is there any sort of ROM I can put on his phone that will treat it better than VZ's rom (which is ugly and slow, imo)? I've checked HTC, but I didn't see any ROM releases for the vzw version, and I've browsed both here and XDA pretty diligently. And to top it off, I checked Google, but to no avail..

Thanks in advance..

Re: Upgrading Verizon Diamond

Unless I missed something and this guy wants to brick his phone, I wouldn't try the unlocker as the Verizon diamond is different. It even says it in the first post in the link!? Search as tons of people ask this question. Tell your buddy that he can do some reg edit's and do his own custom stuff, but there is no unlocker or rom's useable for the verizon diamond.

This is in the wrong section as well and should be moved.

Tsk Tsk bad advice buddy.... why don't people read this lol..

"

THIS IS FOR CDMA DIAMONDS ONLY!
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TELUS, SPRINT, ALLTEL, MTS, CELLULAR SOUTH OR BELL DIAMOND, DON'T DO THIS!
This DOES NOT work on Verizon Diamonds as they are a completely different phone. "

I'd say your friend is screwed tbh till somebody takes the time to maybe make an unlocked but what good would that be with D2 coming out soon for Verizon i believe. now you can hit thanks for me as i may have saved you from bricking your phone X]

Re: Upgrading Verizon Diamond

I've read a lot of places that the VZW Diamond is a different phone from the "normal" CDMA version. What exactly is different? I just got one today to replace my broken XV6900 / Touch (screen was shot) and was hoping to upgrade the ROM and maybe get some more free memory out of the little beast. Thanks!

Re: Upgrading Verizon Diamond

Different chip set from the other CDMA Touch Diamonds, as well as less memory.

Interesting. I knew about the memory being cut but didn't know the chipset was different as well. Thanks for the info!
