Verizon has Diamond/TP for $99, worth buying now?

Hey guys, havnt commented in here for awhile. I had a Vogue i had swapped the MSN to work as my old 6700 on the VZW network but it was stolen so i had to switch back to my 6700 for a few months now. Anyways i just saw that VZW has the Touch Pro and Diamond on sale for $99 with contract. Im up for a new phone just wondering if people think its worth it.

Will the new Diamond 2/TP 2 be that much better? My main interest is in the speed (for videos and general use) and the ease of hte dialer on the phone if theyre similar then i'll get this phone.

Any opinions?

They will be just as fast because it's still the same RAM/CPU/etc. but just a newer screen and stuff. If you can hold out for the Pro 2 though it's got a 3.5" screen.

i wouldn't buy the old verizon diamond or pro since they are both gimped...less RAM and a slower Processor...the new versions are not gimped so I would wait for those

The Verizon Diamond is not slower. Yes it has a different processor but it's clocked the same as the Sprint Diamond. Side by side I can not see a speed difference.

I do have to agree though, wait for the Diamond2/TP2 or at least until you are able to flash different roms on to the Verizon version.

Ive heard the VZW one was gimped but i thought that it wasnt. Is the difference one is the MSM7100 and the other is the MSM7100A?

Also even if i wait the new one will be $250+ is it worth it over $99 for the Diamond or Touch PRO?

Well, most of us consider the VZW Diamond/TP completely different phones from their namesakes on other carriers. You can get the 99$ ones now if you want to see how gimptastic they are.

Probably not, and its going to be around the market of 350+ when it comes to Verizon. I mean think about it, you could get a Blackberry Tour and a TP for that price.

Seriously, I mean T-Mobile wants $350 for Touch Pro 2 with a 2-year contract. I can't imagine what Verizon will try to charge for a TP2, I would imagine more than T-Mobile is asking. Only advantages I see so far is the bigger screen, Manila 2.5, and the fact that its fresh on the market.

It may actually run slower because there are more pixels for the processor to produce. TP/Diamonds have a 480x640 resolution, while the TP2 is a 480x800.

If it were me I would get a TP or Diamond and when your contract is up for upgrade in 2 years, the TP2/TD2s will be $99.

Good call Robsta, im seriously condsidering it. I might try to Assurion my old 6700 as it has some issues as it is. I could possibly get a Touch Pro for $50 and still be elegible for a new phone

MrObvious, when they sent you the 6800 did they say they were sending a 6700 or tell you it was a 6800? Because when i just did the Asurion deal they said they were sending mea 6700... i couldnt believe they even had any left.
