ROM n00bish question

What precisely is the difference between a stock ROM and a shipped ROM? I can't get any kind of clear answer by searching. Perhaps i am retarded. If you have a link to another thread that answers the question, i will gladly accept that as an answer. Thanks, all.

Re: ROM n00bish question

i believe the difference is...shipped rom is the one that came on the phone. the stock rom is one that was made by some of the senior ppc geekers to look like the shipped rom. i think

I don't believe this is correct at all, mainly because when relocking the phone or taking it back to factory settings to not void the warranty, the senior member are very, very clear in stating NOT to use a stock rom, but a shipped rom.

Re: ROM n00bish question

No this is wrong. A shipped ROM is the whole shebang and resets your phone's data settings, radio, PRI, etc. A stock ROM is just the NBH and is just the Windows Mobile part only pretty much.

This is wrong, please don't make statements when you don't know what you are talking about:

Re: ROM n00bish question

so when reflashing to a new 6.5 rom, it would be better to flash a stock rom rather than a shipped rom right?

and if I flash a telus radio on my diamond and reflash back to stock, will it keep my telus radio when I relflash back to 6.5?
