how to backup and update rom

neeb here updated rom yesterday to alltel touch diamond newest rom and phone locks up a bunch, these roms that people make do i have to save any phone number info, or just install rom and the phone will do the rest.

what im really asking is do i have to put in my phone number and any other info to make phone work with alltel, using a custom rom.

Just unlock the bootloader and you should be fine.

once you unlock your phone, you wil be able to flash any rom.. all it does is change the os on the unit, doesnt delete any information that communicates with the alltel towers. In other words, back up your contacts, flash, and it will work just fine...

Well not just your contacts but anything that isn't on your Internal Storage directory.
