How to backup text messages

I need to hard reset my phone. How do I backup my text messages. I am on the regular sprint rom.

Also I saw that some have their text messages stored on internal storage. How do I go about doing this?

Thanks.

Re: How to backup text messages

I think the best app to save text messages is MobileExpress as you can find here: http://www.efficasoft.com/mobileexpress/
With this app you can save it as .txt-files. You also can write text messages on your pc if you want (use ActivSync) and much more. Enjoy.
Ciao

Thank you so much for sharing this. I haven't been able to use PIM backup on my Treo 700wx (it locks up just as it finishes the backup) and I've been searching for another free alternative.

I stayed up till 5 am working on this but I finally found your post and used MobileExpress. I backed up 4901 sent messages and 5823 received text messages all in just 2 txt files.

Great program! Thanks again for sharing...

Re: How to backup text messages

Try MyPhone. I know it was said before but having a backup in the cloud sure is handy.
