Telus to MTS and an HTC Touch Diamond

Hi All,

I'm new here and have a few questions. I already tried searching and came up with some of the answers I was looking for, but I want to make sure I get this right.

I recently bought an HTC Touch Diamond (used) and it was originally from Telus. I'd like to use it with MTS which is private cell company here in Manitoba. MTS gave me two reasons as to why they cannot activate it:

-The unlock code
-"Preferred Roaming List"

By the sounds of what "radios" are it seems that if I flash a generic or even MTS radio to my phone, that should fix the Roaming List problem. As for the unlock code, I can't seem to get around that.

I already 'unlocked' my phone using the "How To: Unlocking, Relocking, and Flashing" thread in the CDMA section and also flashed the stock MTS rom in the thread but it didn't come with the radio software (apparently only the OS). Unfortunately following the steps in the how to didn't reset the unlock code no matter how many times I tried it so I'm kind of stuck at this point.

So what I'm asking is:

How can I get/reset/remove the unlock code on the phone so I can allow MTS to program my phone?

Does anyone have a known radio that works with MTS?

** I tried unlock codes like 000000, 123456, and some random other ones to no luck. And my phone does show the "SPL-0.57.CMONEX" on the boot loader which, from the how to, means it's unlocked.

Thanks!

Re: Telus to MTS and an HTC Touch Diamond

Ok so I solved the unlock code problem thanks to the Official Telus Diamond Thread

All that I require now is the Preferred Roaming List (.prl) file for MTS and I'm set, unless I can use the generic radios instead?

The PRL is part of the carrier's PST settings. MTS should update it when they program your phone using the unlock code that you just found.

I don't think there is a radio for MTS available because they don't give out full roms or radio updates.

I was the one who sent the dump files for the MTS OS (thanks tobeychris) and I haven't heard of anyone else getting anyting else from the company.

The OS and Radio ROMs don't really matter, though.

Some people on US carriers have used the Telus Radio ROM because it is reportedly easier on the battery.

Re: Telus to MTS and an HTC Touch Diamond

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the information. I ended up contacting MTS to find out that the people who would program the phone don't have the PRL file and that they only use the default firmware/settings from their hardware provider. That being said they get most of their hardware from Bell (or used to) so I could probably use a Bell PRL with out issue.

Does anyone have an EVDO Bell or MTS prl they'd be willing to attach for me?

Thanks!

Re: Telus to MTS and an HTC Touch Diamond

Hello All,

So I updating my PRL with the Bell 31402 PRL from the Bell PRL Files thread and it connects to MTS! The signal is OK and it has an EVDO connection (off and on) but I'm all set to get this thing activated with MTS.

I'd prefer possibly flashing the latest MTS prl to make sure I get the best possible connection, but that may never happen. Maybe I should try a different radio at this point? I know that there was an update for the Telus firmware I had on the phone before I flashed the MTS OS so that could be something to look into.

If anyone still has a working EVDO MTS prl I'd like to try it as well.

Thanks again!

Re: Telus to MTS and an HTC Touch Diamond

Hello There... *first post jitters*

I had an HTC touch Diamond on the MTS network, I loved the phone. Sadly it got stolen. my own fault for putting it down for a few moments I suppose.

I friend has asked me if I want his HTC touch pro since he has switched to rogers and gotten an Iphone.

The noob question I have is, would the procedure shown in this thread work on the HTC touch pro? i suspect it would with some tweaking. But your the experts.

Re: Telus to MTS and an HTC Touch Diamond

I suspect if it's Rogers, its a GSM phone and will not work with Bell, Telus or MTS. Only Rogers and their affiliates. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Telus to MTS and an HTC Touch Diamond

mbmedic10050,

Yes, the procedure is pretty much the same. All you should have to do is find the 6-digit SPC (service programming code) to access the PST settings and then get MTS to program their carrier settings into the phone.

The MTS personel should have a copy of their own PRL (preferred roaming list), but Aeosis seems to have been saying that they don't. So you might have to obtain MTS's PRL somehow or use Bell's PRL.

BTW, if your friend switched to Rogers, then he must have been on a CDMA network beforehand, since Rogers is the only GSM network in Manitoba (and Canada, I think). So your phone will be compaitble with MTS's network.
