Spent a couple of weeks fighting to get the new Facebook app to work - but it always hung at the login screen. Found a great tip Windows Mobile Louisville:

You’ll want to uninstall the old application and then make sure that the facebook.vol and fbmail.vol files are deleted from your root directory before reinstalling.

If you are upgrading from the Ather version - this is a lifesaver!

Thanks for sharing this exploid. I am unaware if it has been posted or not, but I love the facebook app! I also had some difficulty with it, but I flashed my phone and got an updated version, so it all worked out!
