IE Will not open .HTM files

I have a Sprint Touch Diamond with the standard ROM and I am not able to open an .htm file in the internal storage. The phone seems to want to open a connection and give the message "Cannot connect with current connection wsettings. to change your connection settings, tap Settings". There is an option to select settings or dismiss. On my Sprint Touch, I had no problem opening these files with IE. Anyone got an ideas on how I can get IE to open the local .htm files?

Is anyone else seeing this issue of not being able to open local .htm files? Any ideas on how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
