Re: Best free GPS software
I use Garmin XT now (Pay App), but during the summer (and over the last year really), I've used both GoogleMaps and LiveSearch, and I must say that LiveSearch is the better of the two when it comes to Navigating. The "Dot" looks better, and it even "beeps" when it's time to turn, so LiveSearch has my vote.

Re: Best free GPS software
I've used live search on my touchpro one night when i needed directions to pick someone up and lets just say i ended up downloading amaze gps the next day. Live search is good for finding locations in the area but as far as navigating you, i much prefer amaze. It gives you turn by by turn navigation with voice instructions and reroutes in case you miss a turn.
Never used any of the other ones but i would personally suggest amaze if supported by your phone. |

Re: Best free GPS software
I use to forgive Google Maps (which doesn't even have an audio prompt when you approach the turn) and Live Search for not having voice turn-by-turn until I came across AmazeGPS.
Sadly I think Google Maps is going to win the poll - but personally I really think it is lacking compared to the others. |

Re: Best free GPS software
Another thing I like about Amaze - it has a mode that doesn't require you have the data connection always available (just when it needs to calculate route).
It was a frustration to be driving along and have Google Maps throw a fit because I lost data connection for a minute (not sure if Live Search has this problem). |
