Ringtone won't stick
 

OK My Guru friends... My Diamond is misbehaving.... and I treat it so nicely!

I set a ringtone and after a few hours, one phone call, whatever... it resets to the first available tone (which unfortunately is "alarm-Beep" that I never notice) so I miss calls. Also, I can not see my ringtones other than the stock no matter if i put them in Windows or in My Documents/My Ringtones.

This is a NEW problem. I have not had this issue since before my last hard reset when I decided to stop the Sprint customizations.

I have sktools and have pointed to the ringtone folder, didn't help; I have moved the desired tones to the windows folder, didn't keep; I can set the ringtone ONLY by going to the file using File Explorer and setting as ringtone. The ringtone STAYS if I set it to a specific person.

Ideas??? (without hard resetting? because if I set everything back the way I want it I'm afraid it will just replicate the problem_)

I think I saw this once. My ringtone was in \windows. Make sure it's in \my documents, that's what did it for me if I recall.

Ok so just my documents straight.. not my documents\my ringtones.. here I go to try, hope its this simple! Thank you!

OK that got it to show up in the list so now if it sticks I'm forever grateful!!

Do you put it in just windows folder? I always put mine in the windows/rings folder, with no problems ever.

Good to know. I had never had a problem before of putting in My Documents\My Ringtones but all of a sudden it burped.. (I'm remembering now its about when I accidently deleted my internal storage and used a recovery agent to get most of my files back... but you'd think that wouldn't matter since non of the files in question were related/stored on internal card...._\)

rstoyguy's fix worked for me.

Yeaa, thanks to both of you, now I don't have to reinstall my rings after a hard reset :mrgreen:
