Code Name AURA WM's Shop Savvy?

Hey guys,

I really wanted that shop savvy program like many others onto my htc diamond so I have been doing alot of research. I finally came across a concept that microsoft research was putting together a while back I got it loaded onto my decvice. It takes a picture of the barcode recognizes it but then gives a network error. I was hoping that maybe someone could figure it out and maybe have it look and act alot nicer then it is at the present moment. to bad we can't just find a way to connect it to the same database shop savvy uses right.

Here is the link for the desktop download. I have a .cab version but have no way to uplaod it.

Hope this helps

Aura was discontinued... I don't think it works anymore.

I know that 1D barcode scanning would be pretty simple on the Diamond/Pro due to the autofocus camera, but which UPC/Price databases would be best as the backend?

I realized it was discontinued. I just figured it might save time on a start point. lol As far as the database is concerned I think just a clone of the Android program would be the best. Basically incorporating a string to find reviews as well as the best pricing and such. Android scan and Shop Savvy do this very well and with the holiday season upon us this app could be very useful.

There is a site (www.upcdatabase.com) that offers a number of services that might be useful, like a downloadable CSV file of the database (???) and a web service that can be called by whatever app you like. After you get the product name, you could do a search on a pricing website (www.pricecanada.com or www.shopbot.ca) and get some pricing details.

I too would like to see something like this for my diamond. I'm anxiously awaiting android on the phone and I'm sure you'll be able to use the actual program then, but it would be nice to have it now. =)
