Manually adjusting backlight

WM 5 had a slider on the today screen to manually adjust the backlight brightness. I use this all of the time on my ipaq which I still use as an ebook reader, music player and for when I miss its luxuriously large screen.

I know I can adjust the backlight in settings but I miss the ease of having that slider on the today screen.

I turned off the auto adjust backlight to try to conserve power but I wasn't completely satisfied by the way it functioned anyway.

Is there a way to get this slider, or a similar manual adjustment feature, back on my diamond?

Re: Manually adjusting backlight

i dont know about the slider, but lumos is a freeware app that replaces htc's auto adjust, and its waaayy better.

Re: Manually adjusting backlight

try this. I loved using this on my touch 6900. I haven't used in on the diamond because the backlight doesn't bother me. This is freeware and I included the skins for vga and qvga.

Download both cabs and then go into settings and hit apply. then open the app and you will see a scroll bar in the middle of your screen to adjust brightness manually. I used it in touchflo and put in in my program page allowing me quick access. Saves a lot of battery power.

Re: Manually adjusting backlight

That's a great program and is almost exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

With the default skin it took me a minute to figure out. I thought the backlight slider was an installation progress meter and thought the installation froze. Duh!

With the VGA skin, the slider is larger and obvious.

The torch function didn't work for me initially, but I found a more recent version of the program, MVBklight 1.4.3, at xda-developers and everything works perfect.

I've got both the slider and the torch assigned to program buttons now.

I have to admit the file name MalVal made me a little nervous though.

Thanks again!

Re: Manually adjusting backlight

glad it worked out for you. This was the best backlight controller I could find for the touch or diamond. I didn't post the most recent one because I didn't have a chance to see if there were any bugs on that one. 1.4.2 works flawlessly
