Issues with EVDO/1X only mode and phone calls going to VM or SMS's failing
 

I was doing some playing around today with the "Mode of Operation" page in phone settings with "DDTM mode" on/off and calling the phone while there is an active data connection as well as other things and found the following:

While in hybrid mode - everything works the way it should while on a EVDO tower but when it is on a 1X tower inbound phone calls work but DO NOT obey DDTM mode selection and no matter what calls will go to VM if there is an active data connection.

While in EVDO only mode:
Inbound phone calls work and obey DDTM mode selection.
SMS FAIL both in and outbound.

While in 1X only mode:
Inbound phone calls work but DO NOT obey DDTM mode selection and no matter what calls will go to VM if there is an active data connection.
SMS work both in and outbound.

Anyone else have similar experiences or any fixes to have SMS's work while in EVDO only or get inbound phone calls to work during an active data connection while in 1X only?

hey thats interesting. For some reason a lot of my phone calls go to VM, and my texts are delayed. I never have a problem sending out SMS or outgoing calls, but incoming SMS and calls are a problem to me. However i did notice that everytime im in a phone call text messages will start coming in. I'm in Boston with near perfect reception 5 bars, my phone always says EV at top and sometimes goes to 1X....any ideas on this??

SMS's don't work on EV-DO. Different protocols, that's why when you send a message you see the phone switch from EV to 1X momentarily.
