Best size for contact pictures?

So I just recently got my diamond, and found that some of my contact pictures will not show when trying to add them to my favorites.. I read somewhere that because the size of the contact picture was too big, touchflo would just restart when trying to add the contact into favorites..

Any help?

I have added 10MP pictures to the contacts and had the picture show up in the contacts area.

Are the pictures jpgs? pngs?

I do not think size is an issue, as TF3D (and even the pOutlook) will resize them.
