But the 7 in the start menu, that's a WM limit I think. I use QuickMenu and it will only keep 7.

same here, these devices do not need a "show desktop"

with quickmenu, it has a "Show Today" that will take you to your today screen.

I have no real complaint about the 7 limit, but on my Sprint Diamond there are things that the standard ROM puts there like HELP that I don't need. Anyway to remove these and others without changing the ROM?

Start -> Settings -> (on Personal tab) Menus, then uncheck the items you don't want showing and/or check the items you do want showing.
