Red face Up Arrow Alternatives...

All right, so I'm going to be possibly getting one of these devices, and in trying one out beforehand, I was pleasantly surprised how well the left and right arrow keys worked despite all the complaining, I never had a problem - ever. The down arrow is a bit finicky, but it works, but what is up with the lack of an "up" arrow? Games and emulators are hard to play without a four way D Pad. Is there like a capacitive touch application that will just let me touch the area where the up arrow would be to activate a virtual up arrow?

Thanks for all your help, people of the community.

DredSensor

SensorScroll

Add registry entries to HTC's SmartTouch

And there is the pay AEButton Plus (earlier versions free).

All right, and here's how that went down:

Dred sensor was kind of cool, but didn't do that.
The old versions of AEB seemed like they weren't for this...
Didn't understand what the SmartTouch thing was all about

BUT... I did spend an hour or so playing with sensor scroll. This one was certainly fascinating. Unfortunately, I was only once able to get the "tap the buttons to simulate a button press" setting to work. I feel like it was just me though. If someone had a video or vivid description demonstrating it, I am certain I could get this one to work. I saw it work... Kind of.

There is hope!

Thumbs up DOWN ARROW KEY Reply

Sorry for a "bump" here, but does anyone know of a way that you can just "tap" the capacitive area instead of actually pressing the buttons?

The lack of an "up" arrow key is driving me nuts, LOL!

Maybe you have a hardware problem.
If I press on the top part of my d-pad it definitely acts as an up arrow/cursor.

And you have the CDMA version? LOL! I never even knew that they were like that by default. Is the Diamond an easy take apart, or is it better for me not to risk something happening to my device? Are there any alternate solutions?

Re: Up Arrow Alternatives...

I seem to remember some reg settings that control the sensitivity of it.
also make sure enough of your thumb is touching the outside of the circle.

atleast the tp1 has up and down..

Hmm... Strange. I see what you mean with the Touch Pro though, because on it, the capacitive touch/D PAD area is more square, giving it room for an Up arrow key at the top, unlike the diamond.

Re: Up Arrow Alternatives...

The Diamond's D-Pad acts as a 4 WAY d-pad no question.

I had a Diamond for the last 3 years then went with HD2

If you are pressing the top of your circular d-pad and it is not responding as an up arrow then your phone is defective and you should get a new one.
