I love Ebay, have bought and sold many phones that way.
Strike up a conversation with the seller. If they don't answer or respond as you wish, don't buy it, there are others out there. Second on Craigs List, that is where I got mine - brand new in box less than Sprint. However, one of the other problems with Ebay buying and complaints - trying to buy a phone that doesn't work on your network - might be the buyer's fault, not the seller's!!!!!! Reseach, research, then double check

I got min off CL. $300, brand new, met the guy and called Sprint to check the ESN.
Worked great.

I got mine off eBay for $275 around Christmas, love it. Just make sure it says "New in box", don't risk it any other way. Then if it isn't, it's easy to get your money back from Paypal. Also, check out seller rep. If they've sold 10,000 phones, chances are you're fine.

It was cells_phones, but he doesn't seem to have any more Diamonds at the moment. He sold off a big lot when I got mine. I've noticed the prices on Diamonds aren't as good right now (CDMA version, anyway) as they were around Christmas. It will probably fluctuate and head back down soon enough.

craigslist + meet in store. if it's a shady seller, they won't wanna meet u in the store. make it a tech center and chat up a tech before ur meeting, so they'll give it a once over for ya if ur not tech-inclined...

Ebayed mine... no problems. Just don't be dumb and buy the cheapest one on there and check the sellers feedback... check that it's new in box... etc... and do what was suggested before, talk to the seller, that's why they have that there. It's best to buy one from a dutch auction that the seller has 100% feedback (or 99, and look at the negatives and see if it might have just been stupid foreign buyers)
Don't see how anyone gets scammed on ebay... use your brain and take the time to look at the item and talk to the seller about it before simply clicking the buy it now button...

just ordered another one thru sprint for 100 without mail in rebate. just told them I wanted to switc the carriers to get the Iphone
