***UPDATED: CDMA/GSM HTC Diamond/Pro: Call Recording (3/25)

Update 3/25: New instructions that are more concise.
Update 3/16: New DLL for CDMA users (now working)!
Special thanks to: XDA in general, monx, indagroove, Calcu, Slypher

If you are a CDMA user, you have one extra step (step 3). GSM users should not do this step (it will mess you up!)

Requirements: Slide To Answer PhoneCanvas for your network type (CDMA S2A for CDMA users, GSM S2A for GSM users).

1) Install the CAB file, "InCallRecording_repacked_monx.cab".

2) Copy everything in the "Copy to Windows" directory into your phone's \Windows directory. Overwrite everything. You will probably need to use Total Commander or similar file manager in order to copy these files.
The files are: ICR_BEEP.wav, ICR_BEEPBEEP.wav, and voAMRNBENC.dll.

CDMA ONLY: 3) Copy wavedev.dll from the "CDMA DLL" folder into your \Windows directory (using Total Commander) Backup wavedev.dll first!

4) Soft reset.

5) Open your new program, "In Call Recorder". Go to options, set Audio Format -> WAV, Store Location -> Card.

6) Start a call. Once the call is connected, hit your right menu softkey and at the very bottom it should show you an option to Start Recording. Call has to be connected (timer must be going) for this not to be greyed out.

7) Files are stored in Storage Card\Recording or Internal Storage\Recording as WAV files. You can also listen to them in Programs > In Call Recorder.

I have it working on: MightyROM 4.8 Diamond, however another user posted and said his is not working...

PREINSTALLED ON:
GrooveROM 4 Diamond

could you link to the xda thread?

It sounds like you might not have all the files we need there.

Re: CDMA and GSM users alike: In-Call voice recording

I'm on Juicy 3.9 and using Juggalo_X's CDMA Slide To Answer White and this works perfectly. I have it set to WAV and to storage card. Thanks for the post.

Re: CDMA and GSM users alike: In-Call voice recording

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...457808&page=10

Please post your results, your ROM version, and your S2A version for others whether it works or not!

BTW Flashed to Mighty 4.3 and it works - straight out of the flash. Since I'm pretty sure you're using Mighty Briggs, perhaps I need to make my instructions better and a bit more succinct.

1) Unzip the ZIP file. You should now have a voARMNBEnc.dll and a ICR_51spsoft_com.cab.

2) The DLL must go in the Windows Directory. (The order between CAB and DLL actually doesn't matter)

3) Install the CAB

4) Soft-reset

5) Make a call. On the screen where theres a fat red "End Call" button, hit the "Menu" softkey (bottom right) and it should have a button called "Start Recording". You will only see this after the call connects (I.E. the call timer starts). I don't know why it shouldn't be working for the rest of you guys. Good luck...

One more thing:
AMR doesn't skip for me while on Mighty's 4.3. But I still prefer WAV since that is a standard format.

Re: CDMA and GSM users alike: In-Call voice recording

I have set everything as per instructions, start a call and see the start recording option in menu but it is greyed out, any ideas.

Just installing SDKcerts to see if this helps.

EDIT: this did not help, is this another one of these GSM only apps?

CDMA users could not use the recorder at the time, but with the advent of true (non-ported) CDMA S2A capability from the leaked ROM, we now have the capability to record calls on Diamonds everywhere.

All of these files were taken off a few posts (in a rather large thread) I found at XDA.

Requirements: The real S2A PhoneCanvas for your network type (GSM S2A for GSM, CDMA S2A for CDMA). For example I have tested this to be working on Calkulin's 4.20 Diamond Kitchen using his default PhoneCanvas OEM.

Install the CAB file attached, and then use Total Commander (or whatever) to copy the codec DLL into your \Windows directory. Soft reset.

Once your phone reboots, go into your programs list - there should be a new program called "In Call Recorder". Open it up.

Under --Menu > Options, change your Audio Format to WAV (in my experience using AMR causes the recording to skip). I suggest changing store location to card. Hit OK and go ahead and close the app - it does not need to be running to record calls.

Once you have all of that set up, make a call to your voicemail or wherever else you would like to make a test call. Once the call connects, hit the Menu key. On the very bottom should be a button called "Start Recording". You will hear a tone confirming the start of the recording as well as a red circle on the right side of your screen.

Once you end the call, you may open up the app again in order to listen to your recordings. For some reason the app plays the recording over the speakerphone and the other party is a bit louder than you are.
good work, i linked to you and this thread in the Pro forum since it works on Pro's too. I wonder if theres any way to disable (or lower a LOT) that tone when begining and ending recording. Its WAY too loud in your ear.
