UPDATE: WORKS!!!! Is there an AUTO - Data Disconnect regedit?

1. Navigate to HKLM\Comm\CommMgr\Planner\Settings\

2. Delete the following key: "SuspendResume"

3. If this key doesn't exist add "CacheTime" value of 60

3. Soft Reset the device

I can now answer calls while DATA is ON. It will Disconnect when idle for 60 seconds.

Thanks wizkidd04

HKLM\Comm\CommMgr\Planner\Settings\SuspendResume = CDMA_bye_if_device_off
HKLM\Comm\CommMgr\Planner\Settings\CacheTime = 60 (1 minutes)

Works for CDMA. Note that if Exchange push is enabled, the data is always connected. Also some java midlets hold a data connection.

Thank you, a few users have been having this problem of their Data being continuously connected after installing the S2A CAB from my post. I tried it on my phone and the data does disconnect, even with exchange push email set up. One thing I noticed is that the data actually disconnects, not just suspends or goes dormant. Another thing, I used to normally get emails on my phone about 15 seconds before they would show up in my outlook on pc. So far, all the emails I received after this edit showed up on my pc about 1 min before it shows up on my phone. I am not sure if this is because the reg edit though, because sometimes this would happen before randomly. I will report back if I do end up getting them on my phone first like before. Thanks again.

Another issue I run into with this reg edit is the delayed answer or non answer phone call when data is connected.

Here's my thread on the S2A, check it out if you want.

AGH! The above registry edit does turn off the data connection, but is has the issue of not being able to answer a call if a data connection is open. Darn, so close. Thanks again.

Re: Is there an AUTO - Data Disconnect regedit?

I cannot see why this registry mod will block incoming calls, it'll only allow calls coming. Here is a little more details about data connection and call block:

If data is EVDO or 1X, calls won't be blocked, even if data is connected.
If it is connected over 1X (not EVDO), calls are blocked if there is a data activity going on.
If it is connected over QNC, calls are always blocked, regardless data activity.

If data is disconnected, there is no reason for call block. Something else is wrong on you your phone.

If you have set up an exchange account and set it to pick up as items arrive, the data connection will be always resumed. So will if you have other push running such as ImapPusherService.

Re: Is there an AUTO - Data Disconnect regedit?

When Data Connection is Dead for me icon is satellite dish with bars. Stock would be Tower with bars, calls come through fine and are able to answer without a problem.

When Data Connection is current my icons there are two pink arrows with the bars. Stock icons would be white arrows. Calls come in they are not blocked, they ring, lights flashes, anwser/ignore skin displays, but when pressing answer button on screen or hardware button nothing happens and phone continues to ring.

When Data Connection is suspended/dormant/sleeping my icons are two blue arrows with the bars. Stock would be two greyed out arrows. Have not gotten the phone to this point with the above reg edit. Even with push email turned off. Phone either has data connection current or off.

I don't know why it is doing, I just know that it is. Hope it helps.

I think this was the same issue being discussed here.

Then try this instead:

HKLM\Comm\CommMgr\Planner\Settings\SuspendResume = GPRS_bye_if_device_off

Thanks. That is the same edit that DaimondTweak or AdvancedConfig enables, that people were having the issue with originally. That is why the original edit you posted with CDMA, I thought that would have fixed that issue.

Also, I think the unable to answer calls with data connected my be with the HTC phone skin. I will try to enable the WinMo phone skin and see if the results are the same.

But I will give it a try. I am hard resetting my phone right now to get it fresh!
