How to silence alarms?

I tried using my Diamond as an alarm clock for the first time today. Setting the alarm was pretty easy: touched the big flip clock, went to the Alarm tab, checked the box next to one of the three alarms, touched the day of the week that I wanted the alarm to go off, set the time.

The alarm went off as scheduled-- but I couldn't figure out how to turn it off! Even when I went back into the alarm page and unchecked the box, it kept going off every 30 seconds or a minute. This went on several minutes, then it seemed to go off on it's own.

So, what am I missing? What do I have to do to silence the alarm and make it stay silenced?

Re: How to silence alarms?

I have this same problem. However, alarms used to work perfectly fine, then just out of nowhere it does what you describe. Alarm goes off, screen turns on as if there is a notification, but the notification does not pop up on the bottom. I have to tap the icon at the top on the taskbar, then tap the alarm icon, then the notification appears where I can hit dismiss at the bottom.

EDIT: I got the notification to pop back up by go into settings/sounds & notifications/notifications tab, then select reminders, and recheck the "Display message on screen" box.

Re: How to silence alarms?

I've used mine for four months, always worked fine.

If you want to try something else, look for Klaxon!

Re: How to silence alarms?

if i am understanding correctly this is how its supposed to work. if you want them to automatically pop up to allow you to dismiss them you can go into Start | Settings | Notifications | 2nd tab | drop down box - reminders | and put a check mark in the box that says "display message on screen"

Re: How to silence alarms?

Yeah, just the fact that it somehow unchecked itself was what threw me off.

Re: How to silence alarms?

I recommend G-Alarm - it's much more finger-friendly (Klaxon is too) so I can actually set alarms without the stylus. It is also easier to dismiss since it just full-screens its reminder, and once you click the big red X, it goes away.

I've had this porblem multiple times, mostly with text messages. The "Display on screen" option just clears itself on my texts and reminders all the time, at least once a week. its annoying.

Re: How to silence alarms?

So last night I did a soft reset and checked my alarm before I went to sleep, everything looked good. I end up waking up in the morning to my backup alarm on my regular clock. I take a look at my phone, and it's powered OFF. Turn it back on, still have over half of my battery left, so that wasn't a cause. I'm left thinking, what in the HELL? I've truly never seen anything simply not work as much as this in my life. There's no way in hell I could ever rely on the built-in alarm function of WM after this experience. Time to checkout Klaxon.
