Question data connection turns itself off?

i've been noticing that overnight now, my diamond turns its data connection off and i wake up to find the ballon saying it was unable to connect to the "network", even though the Ev icon is still up in the status bar

i go to the settings tab then communications and sure enough, the data switch is off, flick it back on and all is good

has anyone seen this before? tried searching but couldn't find anything specific to this issue

addendum:

ok just had it come up again, i've done soft resets and it doens't seem to affect it but here is the bubble

Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To
check your connection settings and change
them if needed, tap Settings. If the problem
continues, reset your mobile device
according to your manufacturer's
documentation and try again.
now i wasn't doing anything, phone was just sitting on sofa next to me charging since the one earlier

Re: data connection turns itself off?

Sounds like the message I get occassionally when tethered to the computer... are you charging via pc connection? Does it only happen when you're charging?

Does leaving the data connection running all the time drain the battery faster?

Re: data connection turns itself off?

Yes this happens to me from time to time, and I usually just call voice mail to force it to 1x, hang up and its fixed.
Needless to say, its still a PITA.

Re: data connection turns itself off?

here's another curious thing on the 'overnight' shut off, when i go to the communications settings, the microsoft push switch is green, and data is off, but then after half a second or so the push one turns off, then i have to turn the data back on
but i'm not using microsoft push email

Re: data connection turns itself off?

hmm. this happens to me quite often during the day. when i'm at work, i usually leave the phone on a charger or i'll put in into airplane mode when i'm in the plant to avoid battery drain. after the charge time, data is off. when i stop airplane mode, i restart data. it shows that data is on but if i do anything requiring data, i get the error bubble. only soft reset helps.
