3rd party battery issue

Hi,
Few month ago I bought an extended battery for my HTC Diamond (not HTC). The battery worked fine with the ROM version I had (was something like 1.4X something). After upgrading the ROM version (because of bad battery management) to 1.93.479.3 WWE the extended battery wasn't recognised anymore by the phone. No charging in the phone, no battery status level displyed.
Is there any method to use again the extended battery in my Diamond?
Downgrading the ROM version is not an option I agree.
